Regulations Required In Orgon Donation

Doctors practising in private hospitals said that in view of the increase in number of organ donation cases, the State should consider allowing at least two private neuro-surgeons the power to declare a patient brain dead. During a press conference on organ donation at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital on Tuesday, the doctors said currently only a government doctor can declare a patient brain dead and they are overloaded with work. We have already appealed to the State, which has asked us to wait,he said. They also demanded that all city hospitals form a common forum. The role of the forum will be to identify the brain dead patients and to see whether the organs could be used, said Dr S Vijayakumar, consultant gastro enterologist and endo laproscopic surgery.
