Rotary Club Distributed Bench & Desks To Schools
The Rotary Club of Coimbatore East distributed 193 pairs of benches and desks under the Matching Grants Program of the Rotary Foundation to 10 government schools. K. Venkatachalam, President of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore East, explained that the project, ‘Vidyadhaan,’ had been executed at a cost of Rs.10 lakh. The project was expected to benefit nearly 1,000 students from 10 government schools in and around Coimbatore.As most of the rural schools did not have enough benches and desks, the students were forced to sit on the floor. S. Sethu Rama Varma, Chief Educational Officer, was the chief guest. L. Narayanasamy, Immediate Past District Governor of Rotary District 3200 attended the programme. They handed over the furniture to the Head Masters of the schools.
