Kiran Bedi In GRG Collage

Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi (left) at a face-to-face programme held at Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science in Coimbatore. “Success is where you want to be and be happy in it. If either one is there in the absence of other, then one is not successful,” Kiran Bedi, Ramon Magsaysay awardee and former Indian Police Service officer, said here on Tuesday.

Addressing school and college students at the Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science, she explained the importance of valuing each day. “Live for that day so that what you achieve on that day shows how successful you are on that day. When you value each day and make use of it, Nature appreciates it and makes you an achiever,” Ms. Bedi said. She told students to sacrifice all that came in the way of success.

Urging them to make a strong foundation of discipline, she said the life they built on a strong foundation would only be strong. Otherwise, it would collapse. She said parents should invest in time for their children. She was sad that mothers were increasingly spending less time with their wards. She lamented that laws and reforms were not taught at school. Children were taught all other subjects. “If we do not learn these things in school, we do not learn them later on in life. Most of us end up ignorant of what we are entitled to and what our laws are,” she said.
