The driver of a private poultry firm was intercepted by a five-member gang and robbed of Rs. 15 lakh after inflicting cut injuries with a sickle on Monday afternoon. It is learnt that Sundaramoorthy, driver in a poultry firm, had come to a bank at Pappampatti Pirivu in Sulur police limits with cash for remittance around 11 a.m. The gang that came in a maxi-cab vehicle, with a forged number plate, intercepted him and snatched the briefcase and when he tried to resist, inflicted injuries and snatched the briefcase and fled the spot. Passers-by alerted the police. Special teams have been formed to nab the culprits.
