Strike On Feb-4 By Eela Tamilar Padukappu Iyakkam
An all-party meeting convened under the banner of Eela Tamilar Padukappu Iyakkam has resolved to seek the support of all sections of society to ensure a total strike on February 4. The strike is to register the protest of the people of Tamil Nadu over the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka and the failure of the Centre to ensure ceasefire there.
The meeting presided by K. Ramakrishnan, general secretary of Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (PDK), was held at the office of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK). The meeting said that repeated representations in this regard by the political parties and also the State Assembly had gone in vain.
The meeting was attended by the representatives from the MDMK, Communist Party of India, Pattali Makkal Katchi, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Kongu Velala Gounder Peravai, PDK, Pudiya Neethi Katchi, Adhi Tamizhagar Viduthalai Munnani, Students Federation and a host of other associations.
