M.R. Ranganathan, Chairman, and S. Shanmuga Priya, Director of the Coimbatore Chapter of ABK-AOTS Dosokai, a Japanese language learning centre. “Japan is a popular draw when it comes to working abroad because of its high earning capacity. Hence, learning the language is a huge plus,” says M.R. Ranganathan, Chairman, ABK-AOTS Dosokai, a Japanese language learning centre in Chennai. He runs the centre in Chennai since 1974. “Since 1992 the demand for the language has been steadily increasing. Now that we have identified the demand in Coimbatore, we have decided to set up a centre here,” Mr. Ranganathan says.
The centre will begin classes from April 1. “It will involve 180 hours’ classes to prepare the beginners for the level 4 of Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). There are four levels. Anybody above the age of 12 can enrol for the same. From students to professionals to housewives, the learning of the language is definitely useful to each in its own way,” says S. Shanmuga Priya, Director of the Coimbatore Chapter.
Since Coimbatore is an education and industry hub, they believe that the course will be of great use. Japan is looking for many IT and engineering professionals from India, hence knowledge of Japan will enable them have an upper hand. Also, housewives and women looking for a change in their profession, can become interpreters. Language classes for college students in their respective colleges and for industry people with the help of CODISSIA are on the anvil.
