Srilankan airline cuts flight service !
Sri Lanka’s national airline has cut half its flights to India in a latest bid to reduce losses, the company said yesterday. SriLankan, which is 40% owned by Emirates of Dubai, scrapped flights to Cochin, Calicut, Coimbatore and Hyderabad while services to other Indian cities were trimmed amid falling traffic. It now operates 50 flights to destinations in India each week. SriLankan, which lost $50mn in the financial year to March 2008, said its decision was also prompted by stiff competition from dozens of low-budget Indian airlines
