Duty Free Shop Inaugurated At Coimbatore Airport

Rajiv Makin (second left), Director,Commercial and Marketing, India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), at the Duty Free Shop at the Coimbatore Airport on Friday. A duty free shop run by the India Tourism Development Corporation was inaugurated at the arrival area of the Coimbatore Airport on Friday by Rajiv Makin, Director, Commercial and Marketing, India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC). Mr. Rajiv Makin along with vice-president of ITDC, I. Majumder, told reporters that it expects a business of Rs. 3.5 crore per annum.


Depending on space availability more items would be on display and sale at the duty free shop. The items to be included in future might include chocolates, garments, electronic goods and toys. At present, imported liquor is available for sale at the duty free shop for passengers arriving at Coimbatore. ITDC was looking at opening such shops in more airports and ports. In a phased manner, duty free shops will be coming up in all the ports including minor ports and airports subject to availability of space. Airport Director, M.R. Vasudeva, Deputy Commandant of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Arun Singh, Additional Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise, G. Sree Harsha, attended.
