School student bags third prize at Spelling Bee
Adka S. Sharan, standard V student of Stanes Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, has won the third prize in the Tamil Nadu State Championship of the MaRRS International Spelling Bee 2008-09 in category III. According to a release, the competition was held at Sri Vidya Bharathi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Salem, recently. The Spelling Bee was based on the Cambridge Learner’s Dictionaries published by Cambridge University Press and jointly organised by MaRRS Intellectual Services and Cambridge University Press.
The contest was conducted in three categories and were held at the school and district levels before the State finals. Sharan was among the 111 children in category III. He will compete in the National Championship to be held in the last week of May in Thrissur.
