RDO probe ordered into student’s death

Over hundred students of a high school at Vadavalli conducted a demonstration at the institution on Monday morning, alleging that the delay in offering medical treatment to a student who had consumed poison had led to his death.

According to police sources, Sathish, a plustwo student at the school had fainted while writing
the examination on Saturday. The students said that as he was in the school uniform at that time, the headmaster had given instructions to change his dress before admitting him to a hospital. Later, when Sathish was taken to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, he failed to respond to the treatment. This enraged the students who alleged that the delay due to the lackadaisical attitude of the HM had snuffed out his life.

The protest raised by the students against the school administration created some chaos in the locality. The students demanded that the police, who had arrived at the spot, take stringent action against the HM and the teachers involved.Attempts by the HM and the police to pacify them proved futile. The students then met Collector Umanath and handed over a petition.

The Collector ordered the Revenue Divisional Officer to conduct an investigation into the case.
