Mock drill at Airport !!
A mock drill was conducted at the Coimbatore Airport on Tuesday evening to assess the efficacy, efficiency and response systems at the airport in the event of an aircraft accident.
Airport Director M.R. Vasudeva told that the drill was aimed at assessing the strength and weakness of the response system of various agencies. When an aircraft accident call was raised in the evening, the Airport Fire Station and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) turned up immediately.
Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services, local police personnel, ambulances, doctors and paramedical staff with ambulances along with ambulance from the Emergency Medical Research Institute (EMRI) were immediately alerted. The response and reaction was well within the required reaction time. A debriefing session followed the drill where strengths and weaknesses were discussed.
