Aninashi road lane to be streamlined !!
To take stock of the on ground situation, the Commissioner along with DCPs, P. Nagarajan (Law and Order) and N. Kamini (Crime and Traffic) along with Highways Department officials reviewed the system on the entire stretch and identified the pit falls.Mr.Sivanandi said that in the first phase, a meeting is being organised with the officials from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Transport Department and office bearers of the private bus operators associations.
The meeting is aimed at relocating the problematic bus stops by 200 mts from the existing locations. The decision was taken since feedback pointed out that 12 bus stops are located at road turnings, traffic signals and junctions. When buses are parked at the bus stops on the last lane, the flow of traffic, especially the two-wheelers were affected.
Now, police personnel would be posted near bus stops to help the motorists on the last lane i.e., two-wheelers and auto rickshaws would be helped in overtaking the parked buses by entering the second lane and could rejoin the last lane on crossing the bus stop. On the suggestion for shifting the buses to the last lane, Mr.Sivanandi said that road width and road markings require some modifications that require some monetary outlay.
