Energy theft detected
Officials of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board’s Enforcement Division and Operation and Maintenance here have detected 29 cases of energy theft during checks conducted from October 1 to 31.
A release from the board said the thefts were detected in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Thirupathur circles. According to provisional assessment, the board would have lost about Rs. 55.73 lakh because of the theft. The 29 consumers came forward to pay the penalty and remitted Rs. 4.98 lakh.
