Hospitals briefed on insurance scheme

he hospitals enlisted in the Chief Minister’s Insurance Scheme for the poor were recently briefed on the procedural formalities to be adhered to while treating a patient covered under the scheme.

Rural Industries and Animal Husbandry Minister Pongalur N Palanisamy, the Project Director of Tamil Nadu Hospital Services Project and Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society, S. Vijaykumar, Chief Medical Officer from Star Health Insurance Dr. Prasad, Project Director Vinay Kumar, Deputy Director of Health Department Dr.Vijaylakshmi, Collector P. Umanath and others took part in the meeting.

The representatives of the hospitals in the four districts i.e., the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode were briefed on the procedures to be adhered to while admitting a patient covered under the scheme. The hospitals were told to avoid a situation of informing the Government and the insurance firm on completion of the surgery.The meeting reviewed the number of cases performed. Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore in general and its Oncology Department had treated the highest number of patients under the insurance scheme.

In Coimbatore, so far total claim of Rs. 3 crore had been disbursed
