Census of wild animals on March 12 - 18 at Mudumalai

Mr. Dogra told The Hindu here on Tuesday that a new method of sampling would be adopted. During the census, the sanctuary would remain closed. A form of census conducted by the Government of India and the Wildlife Institute of India was under way at Mudumalai.
A synchronised census of elephants would be held at Mudumalai and adjoining wildlife sanctuaries at Bandipur in Karnataka and Wynaad in Kerala either during the end of April or early in May. A Nilgiri Tahr census would be conducted at the Mukurthi National Park between March 9 and 11.
