CM to distribute welfare schemes for Coimbatore
COIMBATORE: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M Karunanidhi will lay foundation stones for various new schemes and distribute welfare schemes worth about Rs 730 crore during his one-day visit to the city on February 24.
Karunanidhi would lay the foundation stone for an it park, a Rs 300 crore project promoted by Elcot and also the second phase of the Rs 113.74 crore Pilloor drinking water scheme, Tamil Nadu Rural Industries Minister, Pongalur N Palanisami, told reporters here on Thursday.
The Chief Minister would distribute unemployment allowance to about 7000 youths in the district. Other schemes included solid water management, housing board flats, special water scheme, six lane road laying and widening and also a scheme for the government hospital, Palanisami said.
In the evening, Karunanidhi would be conferred with ‘Bharathiar Tamil Semmal,’ by president, A P J Abdul Kalam, instituted by Bharathiar University for his contributions to Tamil language and also for his efforts to declare it as classic language.
About 4,000 police personnel would be deployed in and around the city for the security duty on that day, in view of the visit of Kalam, Tamil Nadu governor, Surjit Singh Barnala and Karunanidhi, City Police Commissioner, C K Gandhirajan, who was also present, said.
