Coimbatore: A major fire broke out in a readymade garment unit here in the wee hours of Thursday and reportedly destroyed the apparel items and machineries costing several lakhs of rupees.
Police suspect electrical short circuit as the cause of fire.The fire broke out at the unit, functioning in a two-storeyed building in Barathi Nagar, Ganapathi, at around 3 am. Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and battled for several hours before extinguishing it. Saravanampatti police have registered a case.
