UniverCell, Chennai-based mobile phone retailer on Saturday opened three showrooms in Coimbatore. Actress Namitha and Managing Director of Krishna Sweets, M. Krishnan opened the showrooms at R.S. Puram, Sidhapudur and on 100 Feet Road.Talking to reporters, Managing Director of UniverCell, Sathish Babu said that the first showroom was opened in Chennai with just five staff members in 1997 but today there were 16 showrooms in Chennai, two new showrooms in Salem and three in Coimbatore with over 300 trained staff. The company netted a turnover Rs 120 crore during the last year and it aimed at netting a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore during the current year. Aiming for a pan-India presence, the firm plans to open showrooms all over the State by this year and across the country by 2009. Very shortly, showrooms would be opened at Pondicherry, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli and beyond.
