IT rsearch and training centre @ Coimbatore
Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology will establish an "Indo-Kyrgyz IT Research and Training Centre" at the Kyrgyz State Technical University.S. Thangavelu, Chairman of the institute, and Murataly Djamanbaev, Rector of the university, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect at the Kyrgyz University recently and further activity is being undertaken.Mr. Thangavelu told that this was unique in the sense that an Indian college was setting up an information technology (IT) centre in a university that was situated in a foreign country."The university has given us space to set up our infrastructure."It will start out as a finishing school for engineering graduates."Courses in Digital Signal Processing, Embedded Systems and Industry Automation will be conducted for six to twelve months to make them industry-ready," he said.
Faculty from India would conduct the classes for graduates of the university.At the present time, the university has 13,000 students pursuing study in 40 disciplines.Later on, the centre was likely to include more courses for professionals who were working in banks, industry and Governmental organisations.In addition to this, there were likely to be courses that were aimed to meet the needs of school students and housewives."Their engineering expertise is very good.They lack only in language and computation skills," Mr. Thangavelu observed."This centre will be utilised by them to hone those skills."Gradually, we will introduce more courses as per need and the demand of the university."
We will also work on student exchange programmes, whereby our college students can get trained in the centre," Mr. Thangavelu further added The memorandum of understanding also envisaged a number of facilitating exchanges and co-operative initiatives that could take place between the educational institutions in some of the important areas such as teaching, research and outreach.
