TNAU's form labours observed fast today
Disgruntled farm labourers attached to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) here, observed fast in the University premises, even as some of their colleagues who were regularised felicitated the University officials today.With nearly 4500 to 5000 farm labourers working in various campuses, fields and departments, the University had regularised only the services of around 700 workers last week.As some workers, under Farm Labourers Association, started felicitating University Vice Chancellor C Ramasamy, nearly 100 workers, majority of them being women, squatted at some distance to observe fast in protest against the 'omission' from the list, TNAU sources said.Even as the felicitation function went off peacefully, the fast continued till evening, the sources said.
