Measures against viral fever
To prevent the spread of the viral fever, prevailing in neighbouring Kerala State, the District and the city corporation administration have taken measures, like fogging of vehicles and checking of incoming passengers from that State.
With more than 125 buses plying to the city from Palakkad, about 55 km from here, and other towns and hundreds of passengers alighting by train from that State to Coimbatore, the administration has opened health centres in bus-stands and railway stations and checking them medically, official sources said.Buses and trains coming from Kerala are being fogged with anti-mosquito chemicals in the city and also on border checkposts, to destroy mosquitoes and larvae.A doctor and two nurses are working at the centre to examine the passengers, where they also create awareness about the fever and how to prevent it,the sources said.
