One more train to Kerala!!!!!!!
Southern Railway, Palakkad Division, has announced that 02678/02677 Ernakulam–Coimbatore special train introduced on June 3 on an experimental basis for one month till July 3 will continue to run for a further period of three more months till October 4.In a release, the Palakkad division said this was introduced to clear extra rush during summer and to provide a direct day train connecting Ernakulam and Bangalore via Coimbatore.
The special train will run as per the following timings; train number 02678 will leave Ernakulam at 9.15 a.m. and stop at Alwaye (9.40 a.m.), Trichur (10.40 a.m.), Palakkad (12.20 p.m.) and arrive Coimbatore Junction at 1.45 p.m. From Coimbatore the City will continue its journey to Bangalore as Intercity Express. Similarly, in the return direction, the Intercity Express on arrival at Coimbatore from Bangalore will leave Coimbatore at 1.15 p.m. and stop at Palakkad at 2.20 p.m., Thrissur at 4 p.m., Alwaye at 5.05 p.m. and arrive Ernakulam Junction at 5.45 p.m.
The train will have a composition of one AC three tier coach, eight sleeper class three tier coaches, two second class sitting coaches, one pantry car, five general second class coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans. Since the coaches of the Intercity Express between Coimbatore and Bangalore are used for the Ernakulam special train, through reservation from Bangalore to Ernakulam and Ernakulam to Bangalore will be available. Last service from Ernakulam will be on October 3 and last service from Coimbatore on October 4.
