Data entry work for family cards begins
District Collector Neeraj Mittal on Monday inaugurated the work for entering data from the applications received for issue of new family cards under the Public Distribution System.The district received over 50,000 applications for issue of new family cards over the last several months. Of this, cards had been issued to nearly 10,000 applicants, while 40,000 applicants are waiting for their cards. Till now, the applications after verification and processing were sent to Chennai where the data entry operations were carried out before the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) printed the family cards.
In view of the increasing number of applications and the mounting workload, the administration has brought 10 computers for carrying out data entry work.The data entry operators would work in shifts and the administration was planning to complete job within 30 days. The data would be forwarded to ELCOT at Chennai online and the printing of cards would be expedited.The Assistant Collector (Training), Gurugupta, and the District Supply Officer, G.S. Ramadoss, oversaw the operations.
