Drive against flesh trade
Anti-vice Squad of the Coimbatore City Police has stepped up its drive against flesh trade. It arrested five commercial sex workers and four brokers on charges of organising and indulging in flesh trade.Following information about brokers bringing women for flesh trade, City Police Commissioner C.K. Gandhirajan organised a crackdown and the Anti-vice Squad led by Assistant Commissioner of Police V. Muthusamy led the operations.
In the month of July alone, the police have arrested four brokers and five women. The squad since its inception in February has so far arrested 240 persons.Three main accused have already been detained under the Goondas Act.The Anti-vice Squad has been asked to step up drive in hotels, isolated houses having suspicious movement of men at odd-hours.The vice-squad had already tightened its vigil on the self-styled massage centres that clandestinely encouraged flesh trade.
