A stall showcasing innovative lights at the ’Inside Outside Mega Show’ at Padmavathi Ammal Cultural Centre in Coimbatore.Interior décor is no longer just about fancy furniture and furnishings to match. A lot more can be experimented, especially with innovative concepts entering the market. At the ‘Inside Outside Mega Show’ that opened on Thursday at the Padmavathi Ammal Cultural Centre, innovation is the key word. Companies have come out with unique ideas and attractive discounts to woo potential customers.
Artificial lawns are one such product that catches a customer’s fancy. The best thing about this lawn is that it does away with the pain of maintaining a natural one. A relatively new concept in India, this product made of polypropylene and polyethylene is ideal for an independent house. Especially for those who do not have time at their disposal to water and maintain their garden, this can come in handy. These lawns can withstand temperature variations and the colour will not fade.Ultraviolet stabilised blinds made of plastic are another attraction. From bamboo to wood and handloom, blinds have come a long way. The advantage of these plastic blinds is that they could be used outdoors and do not get damaged by rain. The conventional wire meshes used to keep away insects have now given way to roller insect screens. They can be rolled to one side of the door and pulled back when not needed. These screens use fibre glass mesh.
The self-irrigating flower pots sure will be an instant source of delight for those who swear by gardening. These pots have an inbuilt mini reservoir which can hold water. After initially filling the tube, which runs along the side of the pot with water, the plant need not be watered for the next three months. Any kind of plant can be grown in these pots and they would remain fresh. These pots come in attractive colours.Colourful marbles, artefacts to deck up the garden and fancy aluminium sprinklers are also on display.Intricate designs can decorate the walls of your home in the form of Tanjore paintings. Starting from Rs.1,000 the paintings can cost up to Rs. 2 lakh.
Apart from the art work and paintings, the show includes essential stuff for interior décor such as wall papers, kitchen ware, bathroom fittings, attractive wooden and ceramic flooring and even bedsheets and carpets. The show is being organised for the seventh time in Coimbatore and the response from the public has been good, Sridhar Iyengar, General Manager, Marketing and Sales of Business India Exhibitions, the organiser of the show along with the Inside Outside Magazine, said.“We expect 18,000 to 20,000 visitors,” he added.More than 50 companies have set up stalls.
