Clinton likely to visit BU
Former US President Bill Clinton is likely to visit the Bharathiar University (BU) during the inauguration of its Nano Facility Centre. The varsity will inaugurate the Nano Centre along with the Centre for Life Sciences in January 2008, for which they are planning to invite the Prime Minister of India.The university gets support from the ‘Global Nano Medicine Initiative,’ headed by Bill Clinton, through the Arkansas University, which is a part of the Initiative and have a tie-up with the Bharathiar University too.In fact, there are 126 US institutions coming under the Global Initiative.
Bharathiar University is the only institution from India to get the Initiative’s support. The Global Initiative’s role is to create awareness on nano technology and help institutions which promote the technology.The Initiative would also raise resources for the university. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor G Thiruvasagam said that he was positive about the visit adding that Chancellor of Arkansas University John A White, along with Bill Clinton, would visit the university during the inauguration.
