Dont approach touts and brokers
The District Collector, Neeraj Mittal, has requested applicants for passports visiting the District Passport Cell to desist from approaching touts and brokers promising to get the process expedited and to complete the work with ease.Mr.Mittal said that for any assistance or clarifications in filling up the forms or in knowing the status, the applicants could approach the District Passport Cell directly.
He also said that passport forms were sold at Rs. 10 and the filled-in forms were routed to the respective police jurisdiction for verification and along with the report they were being despatched to Chennai. To know the status, they could access the website of the Regional Passport Office and need not approach any broker or tout who assures to get things done with ease and without any hassle.The Collector’s announcement came in the wake of a girl, Dimple of Rajasthan, residing at Sukrawarpet, complaining to the Collector that a person posing as a District Passport Cell staff cheating her to a tune of Rs 1,200 by promising to get her passport application form processed.After repeated visits to the passport cell in search of the person, the applicant realised that she had been cheated. She then lodged a complaint and the Collector visited the passport cell and held on-the-spot inquiries on movement of brokers and touts.
