Eco club inaugurated at PSG Collage of Arts
Learning need not be confined to the four walls of a classroom.Since nature at its pristine glory has a lot to teach the students, take them out to learn more than the syllabus, says the District Forest Officer, I. Anwardeen.Inaugurating Eco Club at the PSG College of Arts and Science on Wednesday, Mr. Anwardeen highlighted some facts about wildlife. A tiger has a night vision six times more powerful than a human eye. Elephants create path in the jungle for the smaller animals to navigate. Grazing of grass by deer ensured that the tall grown grass never disrupted the growth of trees.
There are a lot of things like this for the students to learn in addition to their prescribed curriculum. It is essential to imbibe qualities in students to appreciate and conserve nature.Saving water and reducing the quantum of waste generated by human beings were essential for reducing the harmful effects that were in store for humanity for the failure to conserve nature and ecology.Fora such as eco-clubs in schools and colleges should create the required awareness to conserve ecology and protect nature. He sought the cooperation of the student community in sustaining the protective and preventive role played by the Forest Department. M. Padmavathy and C.R. Jayaprakash, staff co-ordinators of the club, spoke on the occasion and Student Chairman Subish presented a report on the activities of the club.
