Getting a German exposure

A batch of 50 students of Gedee Technical Training Institute here recently got German Diploma Certificate from IHK, Nurnberg, Germany. The IHK is the authority that formulates and evaluates vocational training courses in Germany.These students have studied in an Indian Institute but received a German diploma certification in tool and die engineering since they undertook the German examination. “This will help the candidate find technical jobs in foreign countries and also in German companies that open shop here,” says S. Akila, Corporate Executive of the institute. The course is conducted by the institute adopting German standards.The Gedee institute signed an agreement with the IHK, Nurenburg, in February this year and has formed a board of examiners. Students taking up the diploma in tool and die engineering at the institute get the German certification.

Dileep Nair, one of the candidates from Kozhikode who received the certificate, says the examinations were tough with more focus on application at the shop floor. With the German certification he is hopeful of getting more opportunities abroad.T.R. Gopalan, regional director of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, points out that with the huge demand for skilled technical manpower these students will have immense employment potential in the German companies starting shop here and also in Indo-German joint venture units.By going in for German standards, the institute focuses more on shop floor training and the students also get an exposure to a foreign language. “These courses ensure the candidates are adequately trained on the machine too.”
