International live workshop @ Gem

Gem Hospital will hold its seventh international live workshop on advanced laparoscopic cancer surgery for four days from November 22.More than 500 surgeons from various parts of the country will take part in the meet, hospital Director and laparoscopy surgeon C. Palanivelu told presspersons. Faculty from Japan, Korea, the U.K., France, Germany will also participate.Dr. Palanivelu, who is also the president of the Association of Surgeons of India, said that the meet would provide training to surgeons from the country on laparoscopic cancer surgery, with the support of the Medical Council of India. With advances in technology and experience, more complex surgeries for cancers of the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and rectum were being performed.

The Gem Foundation will conduct a free cancer screening camp for gastroenterology diseases and particularly cancer of the areas mentioned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 4.Computed tomography scan and blood tests will be done free of cost. Those diagnosed with early stages of cancer can undergo laparoscopy surgery free of cost.
