Missing IAF officer traced

The Coimbatore City Police on Wednesday night said Flight Lieutenant Noktempang Jamir of Indian Air Force who went missing from the Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) on October 7 was traced to Shillong on October 17.The IAF officer belonging to Nagaland who was in service with the 127 Helicopter Unit of the IAF at Mohanabari in Gauwhati in Assam arrived at Coimbatore on October 5 for a three-week in-service training with AFAC.On October 7 the officer who went out for making phone calls failed to return.

The AFAC authorities preferred a complaint with the Race Course police based on which a case of man missing was registered.With the missing person being an Air Force officer, Commissioner C.K. Gandhirajan and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) P. Sugumar ordered constitution of special teams.The special teams led by Assistant Commissioner K. Kumarasami and inspectors Soundarrajan and Balamurugan held inquiries with the room mates and batch mates of the missing officer.Meanwhile, investigations resulted in tracing one of the calls made by the missing officer from a public call office at Shillong.Based on the inputs regarding the phone calls about the whereabouts of the officer, the Mizoram police were alerted who traced the officer.This was communicated to the Coimbatore police by a fax message from the Mizoram police.
