CIT signd MoU NIC
Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Department of Information Technology, Union Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, here recently for support and training of CollabCAD software.According to an institute release, it was signed between S.R.K. Prasad, Director, CIT, and Savita Dawar, Senior Technical Director, NIC.The MoU aims to develop human resources around CollabCAD and popularise it among the industry, and research and development establishments and also educational institutions.It also entails CIT to be one of the CollabCAD Support and Training Centres in India. CollabCAD is an indigenously developed software by NIC. It can solve many computer-aided engineering (CAE) problems and can communicate with existing CAE softwares.CIT faculty will use the software for their consultancy services. Standard part libraries like steel tables, gear design tables, etc., needed by the chemical, civil and mechanical designers will be developed by the CIT faculty and students using scripting language provided by CollabCAD as part of the research, consultancy, project work and skill enhancement process.
