Farm graduates and agriculture students observe a fast in Coimbatore on Monday to press various demands.Uunemployed farm graduates and students pursuing courses in agriculture started observing a relay fast here on Monday to press demands.This is to express solidarity with other such graduates who are staging demonstrations in front of agricultural colleges in the State.They have appealed to the Chief Minister to provide employment opportunities to the 10,000-odd graduates from the disciplines of agriculture, horticulture, forestry, agricultural engineering and agricultural technology.In a memorandum to the Chief Minister, they said that in the last 17 years the State Government had provided only 416 posts of agriculture officers and 82 vacancies of agriculture teachers.They asked the Chief Minister to convene tri-partite talks with unemployed farm graduates and agriculture students so that nearly 1,800 to 2,000 vacancies could be filled on the basis of registration seniority.If their demands were not met, they will continue the relay fast in front of agricultural colleges.
