New Collector For Coimbatore

V. Palanikumar, who was recently inducted into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) assumed charge as the Coimbatore Collector on Monday.He took over charge from Neeraj Mittal who is transferred and posted as Commissioner, E-Governance at Chennai. Mr.Palanikumar began his career in Revenue Department as Deputy Collector (Training) at Tiruchirapalli and then served as Revenue Divisional Officer - Kumbakonam, Joint Director of Land Administration - Chennai, General Manager - Tamil Nadu Cement Corporation, Assistant Director of Town Panchayats, Managing Director of Chennai Trade Centre and had served as District Revenue Officer at Karur and Theni districts.
He took over charge from Neeraj Mittal


He was also Joint Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise and then as Assistant Commissioner (General Administration) - Chennai Corporation. Talking to reporters soon after assuming charge Mr.Palanikumar said that he will ensure a public friendly and goal oriented administration. Benefits and schemes to the people and better service delivery systems, will be given priority, he added.More attention will be given to redressing farmer’s grievances and development of infrastructure. Coimbatore being an industrial city, priority would be given for resolving issues concerning the industries with the help and consultation of the departments concerned.


To prevent migration, Mr.Palanikumar said that provision of urban infrastructure in rural areas would get greater impetus.Pointing out the successive census figures, Mr.Palanikumar said that urbanisation trend was evident in Coimbatore, keeping this in mind,Mr. Palanikumar said that foresighted planning and expeditious infrastructure development would be ensured.
