Teacher Used Writting Pad As Weapon

Eight-year-old, second standard student Zinith Kumar with injury on his head. A Standard II student of a private matriculation school in Peelamedu, Zinith Kumar (8), suffered head injury after the invigilator at the examination hall reportedly slammed him with the writing pad. The boy’s parents M.M. Gopal and Malarvizhi approached the authorities concerned and the police seeking action against the school and the teachers.
The school authorities neither administered first aid nor rushed the boy to a hospital but made him sit through the exam for four hours

Based on the complaint from the boy’s mother Malarvizhi, the Peelamedu police have registered a case against the teacher Amudha under Section 341 (wrongful restraint) and 323 (causing hurt under the Indian Penal Code) According to the boy’s father, the invigilator Amudha had hit the boy on his head with a writing pad which resulted in a cut injury and the boy started bleeding on March 19. Mr. Gopal alleged that the boy was intimidated by the teacher not to reveal the incident and told him to say that he fell in the bathroom.

The school authorities neither administered first aid nor rushed the boy to a hospital but made him sit through the exam for four hours. The boy’s father was phoned up in the afternoon to take the boy to the hospital. Such a delay of over two to three hours, especially with a bleeding injury on head, could have cost the boy his life or could have led to other complications, he lamented.

Mr. Gopal said that having beaten up the boy to the extent of injuring the head, the school authorities should have at least rushed him to a hospital rather than making him sit through the exam. Such an irresponsible attitude of the school should be dealt with severely, he said. He had lodged a complaint with Collector V. Palanikumar as well as with the Peelamedu Police on Monday seeking action against the teacher and the school management. Repeated attempts to get in touch with the school authorities went in vain.
