Training Prog For Children At Juvenile Home

Don Bosco Anbu Illam will conduct a training programme for children at Juvenile Home.Fifteen children between the age of 14 and 18 have been selected, said Fr. Christopher Jayaraj, Director, Don Bosco Anbu Illam. They would be divided into small groups and resource persons would train them to make bags from jute.

Training programmes will help in channelling their creative energy

“As they remain within the confines of the home day in and day out, the children lose all motivation. They either sit idle or watch TV all day. Such training programmes will help in channelling their creative energy,” Fr. Jayaraj said. They would be given coaching in life-skills, manners and etiquette. Motivation and confidence-building exercises would be included. Games and education material would be distributed to the children so that they could keep themselves occupied. Anbu Illam trained more than 15 children last year too. They were given certificates. The children had responded well to the programme and they were enthusiastic to learn these skills. Some even wanted to continue training. On completion of the one-month programme, the children would be given certificates.
