Cellular Phones Recovered From Prisoners
Six cellular phones were recovered from prisoners of Coimbatore Central Prison on Wednesday in a search operation. Following reports that prisoners were gaining access to banned items, the Additional Director-General of Police, Prisons, A. Subramanian, ordered for conducting a search operation inside the prison.Security staff from Salem Central Prison too were deployed.
Under the direct supervision of Deputy Inspector-General of Prison, P. Munivel, nearly 100 prison security staff, especially those trained in commando operations, led by Additional Superintendent of Prisons, G. Shanmugasundaram and G. Sundarrajan conducted checks. Security staff from Salem Central Prison too were deployed.
