Motorised Tricycles Free Bus Passes To Disabled Students
The District Collector, V. Palanikumar, on Tuesday gave away motorised tricycles and free bus passes to graduate disabled students at a mass contact programme held at the Collectorate. The free bus passes would be valid from April 1 this year to March 31, 2009. They were distributed to the physically disabled persons including ten visually challenged students. The District Rehabilitation office was also taking steps to provide bus passes to 600 more physically disabled persons.
The disabled drawing Rs.12,000 as annual income, the disabled going to schools, those running small industrial activities and those availing of treatment would be eligible for the passes. There would be no income restriction for those with visual impairment and mental disability. Mr. Palanikumar exhorted all the disabled persons to approach the rehabilitation department office at the Collectorate to avail of the benefits.
