The census forms had been printed and were being distributed through the Integrated Child Development workers at the block level.
The services of field staff from the medical, public health, education for all, rural development, people welfare offices were sought for taking the census. Village nursing assistants too were being roped in. The district was equipped with an anganwadi centre for every pocket that had a population of 1,500 people.
These anganwadi workers would identify disabled people in their area, fill in the forms and hand them over to the block level ICDS office. The administration had planned to complete the exercise within a week. The physically disabled, including visually, hearing and speech impaired and the mentally disabled could furnish the particulars and avail of the benefits.
