The objective of the scheme is to provide urban infrastructure and economy in rural areas to prevent people from migrating, providing power to the rural people and ensure equality of status.

The jobs to be undertaken will include creation of tanks, lakes and ponds, renovation of existing water bodies, desilting and maintenance of canals and streams, strengthening of the bunds in irrigation tanks, laying of new mud roads and taking flood control measures. Identity cards have been issued to those who had enrolled and works had commenced in most of these places.
