Girl Mauled By Leopard
A five-year-old girl was found mauled by leopards in the forests bordering an estate of coffee, rubber and cardamom plantations at Valparai in the district. Gowri, daughter of estate worker Veeran, was found missing from her house at dusk. Worried parents searched for her in the neighbourhood. When the search yielded no result even past midnight, the people in the locality headed for the forests.They found the badly mauled body of the girl
On spotting two leopards, they returned home. They went into the forests again and to the spot where they saw the leopards. There, they found the badly mauled body of the girl. Forest officials saw the body and confirmed that the child had been attacked by leopards.
