Gram Sabha Meetings From 1st May Onwards
Gram Sabha meetings will be held in all the 389 village panchayats in Coimbatore District on May. A release from the District Collector, V. Palanikumar said that being the first gram sabha meeting for the year 2008-09, the meeting would discuss the list of beneficiaries chosen for various Government schemes as well as the development works to be taken up. The meeting would also discuss National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme which was under implementation since April 2008 especially the works taken up, estimates and the present stage of each work.
It will also ratify the list of beneficiaries for whom houses would be constructed under the Indira Gandhi memorial scheme for the year 2008-09. The income and expenditure of the village panchayat especially those taken up under the common fund such as drinking water, electricity bill would be read out at the gram sabha meeting. The meeting would also discuss other subjects that come up either from the Panchayat President or with his permission.
