ICCI - Coimbatore Welcomed Central University

The Coimbatore chapter of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the announcement of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development that a Central University will be set up here. According to a release from its president D. Balasundaram, the proposed university would enlarge the scope of education for students in the State.

It would also help the other educational institutions in the State to benchmark their curriculum, teaching methodology, examination methods, faculty development and facilities vis-À-vis a Central University. The chamber has urged the Central Government to set up Navyodaya Residential Schools, meant for rural and tribal students, in Tamil Nadu. It pointed out that the schools were functioning in various other parts of the country. It has also pleaded for establishment of a World Class Library similar to the one existing in Chennai.
