AU's Aacademic Campus At Jothipuram

The academic campus of Anna University, Coimbatore, will function from a rented premises at Jothipuram from the coming academic year, Vice-Chancellor R. Radhakrishnan said here on Friday. The Finance Committee and Syndicate have approved a 50 per cent reduction in the fee for all the university courses. The fee for three-year BE/B.Tech courses would be reduced to Rs. 25,000 from Rs. 50,000 and that of the post-graduate courses to Rs. 40,000 from Rs. 50,000.


The Vice-Chancellor told reporters that they had approved the conduct of full-time and part-time post-graduate engineering courses, part-time BE courses, one MCA and five MBA programmes, and research at the rented premises. Separate hostel facilities for all the students would be provided.



The university would offer 32 courses in ME/M.Tech. In addition, seven new courses would be offered this academic year. “Some unique courses are Enterprise Server Data Management, Multimedia Technology, Mainframe Technology, Wireless Technologies, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ship Design, and Nano Technology,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said.



The university would offer part-time course under nine branches – civil, infrastructure, mechanical, production, computer science, electronics, Information Technology, electrical and electronics. Applications for the above courses would be available from June 16. The Vice-Chancellor said that 28 letters of intent for new self-financing engineering colleges had been received by the university from All India Council for Technical Education. “Approval has been given for five institutions – one each in Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, and two in Namakkal. The Erode and Namakkal colleges are all women colleges,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said.
