Students of the Government Polytechnic for Men on Avanashi Road staged a flash protest by coming on to the roads objecting to the construction of a median on the middle of Avanashi Road. Students said that the road median was forcing them to take a long detour to cross over to the other side of the road for entering their institution as well as for returning back home. They demanded a small gap in the road median. Police and Highways officials held talks with the students and following assurances to provide gap for crossing the road, the students withdrew the agitation. As a result of the road blockade, traffic on Avanashi Road was disrupted briefly.
