Six held
The Tirupur police on Sunday night secured six suspicious persons with weapons who were found hiding inside a burial ground on ABT Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the six-member gang had plans to rob the houses of hosiery unit owners.

Bag found
An unclaimed bag found at a place of worship on Kamarajar Street in Singanallur caused flutter on Monday morning. The Anti-Sabotage Teams of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of the City Police found the bag to be containing some papers and religious books.

Detained
Irate residents of Thattakalpudur, near Kinathukkadavu, detained a bus on Monday morning in protest against the cancellation of a peak hour service that connected the village with Coimbatore city. The residents pointed out that the bus helped students, office-goers and other workers. Cancellation of the service was unjustified and unwarranted, they said. The officials held talks with the villagers and got the bus released. They promised to look into their demand. Death toll
The death toll in the Sunday’s accident, near Sulur, had gone up to six. Five persons were killed and 13 injured when a tourist van collided head on against a cow dung laden lorry on Sunday. Mahadevi (13) died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
