A police officer having a word with students of Ondipudur Government High School who blocked road near Ondipudur on Monday. Tension prevailed at Ondipudur on Monday morning when students of Ondipudur Government Girls High School blocked road in protest against the alleged land usurping by a private charitable trust. When they came to school on Monday they found that the land that they were using as play ground fenced by a private charitable trust claiming ownership over it. Agitated, they came to the road. When the police arrived to restore traffic, students tried to go back to the school. The police too tried to remove them. A stampede ensued and a few girls students sustained injuries. When reports about police action spread, parents gathered in front of the school. The police said that students started running towards the school when they saw them resulting in a minor stampede. The students, however, said that the police resorted to forceful removal of them.
