Collector Invited Applications For Education Assistance
The District Collector, V. Palanikumar, has invited applications from students belonging to the Adi Dravidar, scheduled tribe and the converted Christian communities for availing of educational assistance for higher studies. In a release, the Collector said the State Government was giving the Chief Minister’s educational assistance for 1,000 boys and 1000 girls every year. The same was being disbursed through the Adi Dravidar and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department. For 2008, the eligibility marks for boys was 1033 and for girls, 1047.
Only those students who had taken Tamil as one of the subjects would be eligible. Those who had passed Plus Two examinations in March 2008 could send in their applications through their educational institutions. The applications should be accompanied by mark sheets and community certificates in prescribed formats. The educational institutions concerned could approach the District Adi-Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Officer at the Collectorate for the application forms. For details, call 95422-301114.
