Panel Visited Proposed Zoo Park
The standing committee of the Coimbatore Corporation council on Education and Parks on Friday visited the proposed site for the Zoological Park at Ettimadai in KG Chavadi revenue village. The committee led by chairman, R. Kalyanasundaram and members V.K.S.K. Senthilkumar, Karthik Selvaraj, Shobana Selvan, Meena Loganathan, N. Tamil Selvi and K. Sivagami along with Director of the Zoo, S. Thirukkumaran visited the zoo.The Corporation, at present, has a mini zoological park in VOC Park and because of the number of species and animals present there, the Central Zoological Authority (CZA) had advised the authorities either to reduce the number of animals or to shift the zoo. The members said the subject for utilising the land for the park would be formally placed before the Council on June 17 for its approval.
