7 Lak Names Missing In Electrol Roll

Communist Party of India (Marxist) has flayed the election authorities for the removal of seven lakh names from the electoral rolls. In a statement issued here, the district secretary of the party, P.R. Natarajan, said that there had been a realignment of Assembly constituencies in the district as a fall out of the delimitation exercise.

In the 16 Assembly constituencies during the 2006 Assembly elections there were 34.62 lakh voters. But the revised electoral rolls now indicate only 26.44 lakh voters. Mr. Natarajan wanted the election authorities to explain how seven lakh voters had gone missing in a span of two years. He also flayed the practice of removing the names of those not having an elector’s photo identity cards.
